Safe dosing of the highest quality – Blisterzentrum Schweiz opens modern clean room production facility
The new Swiss blister center guarantees greater safety when dispensing medicines. With the help of the most modern production facility in Switzerland, individually pre-portioned medicines are blister-packed under clean room conditions in the certified center. The Swiss Blister Center impresses with the highest level of quality. The blistering is carried out in a Cleanroom of the brand CleanSteriCell® from SCHILLING ENGINEERING.
Patient safety is also a top priority when it comes to dispensing medication. However, discrepancies between the prescribed medication and the medication actually taken are still a not insignificant problem. In order to further increase safety in the supply of medicines, the DR. BÄHLER DROPA Group” (DBD) has founded the Swiss Blister Center. It guarantees greater safety in the dispensing of medicines.
Production in the Cleanroom
With the help of Switzerland’s most modern production facility, the Swiss Blister Center packages solid medicines individually for patients in pre-proportioned tubular blister packs. The center not only meets pharmaceutical and legal requirements, but also the highest quality standards. This is because blister packaging takes place under certified clean room conditions, making the Swiss Blister Center unique in the country.
At first glance, the Swiss Blister Center impresses with its visitor gallery. Visitors can watch the blistering process from the outside through the fully glazed cleanroom walls of the CleanSteriCell® system. This is very important to Franklin Schatzmann, Chairman of the Management Board of DBD: “You can see everything“. The process begins in the pharmacy, which enters its order to the center via a secure web platform.
The order can start in the Swiss blister center within 10 seconds: the loading robot delivers the medicines in their original packaging, they pass through the clean room airlock and are deblistered semi-automatically. A machine then blisters the medication individually for each patient. Each bag produced is checked individually. This involves the use of a high-resolution, photo-optical system similar to that used in facial recognition technology. The system checks each bag and compares it with an image database for various criteria such as color, shape, size and quantity.
If there are any uncertainties, the bag is marked so that it can be checked by hand and corrected if necessary. All work steps are validated and checked, so the Swiss Blister Center guarantees maximum drug safety and complete documentation. After approval by the person responsible at the Swiss Blister Center, the weekly dose is delivered to the pharmacy. From there, the blister packs are delivered to institutions or patients.
