15-meter-long ceiling beams with trusses create space without columns and supports
Last year, we received a special request from BSH Hausgeräte GmbH (formerly BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH). The Munich-based company needed an ISO Class 7 cleanroom for the clean manufacturing of sensitive components. To accommodate up to ten process systems, the 21x15m cleanroom was to be constructed without any obstructive supports or columns. Since it was not possible to suspend the structure from the factory’s existing building, the cleanroom had to be designed as a self-supporting structure. In addition, the cleanroom ceiling was to be walkable and designed to accommodate future expansion.
The most important—and often the most rewarding—aspect of our work is taking a highly personalized approach to our customers’ specific requirements and wishes and transforming them into a functional and durable cleanroom. True to Albert Einstein’s motto, “Every difficulty harbors an opportunity,” our team took on this interesting challenge and developed a solution that is, in the truest sense of the word, structurally sound. 1.20-meter-high truss beams span the room’s 15-meter width in a single piece. Thanks to the system’s modular design, the desired expansion capacity of approximately 150 m² was incorporated from the outset.
The new cleanroom was also designed to meet the customer’s aesthetic preferences. The fully glazed front of the 325 m² cleanroom facility ensures an abundance of natural light and an open working atmosphere. The personnel airlock with access control was furnished and equipped in accordance with cleanroom technical and ergonomic standards.
