We focused on a different topic each week. We are very pleased with the positive final balance.
Transport
In the first week, we encouraged our employees to carpool, take the bus or train to work or even work from home. We are pleased that many employees complied with this. By using these options, we were able to save around 106 kg of CO2 emissions.
Food
In the second week, our canteen offered a sustainable menu with a focus on regional, seasonal, vegetarian and organic ingredients. This enabled us to save around 28 kg of CO2 compared to the average German meal.
A vegan and organic diet can save more than 50% of greenhouse gases compared to a meat-heavy diet from conventional farming.
Waste disposal
In the third week, we supported the Wutöschinger Cleaners. Together we cleared our industrial area of garbage. This enabled us to collect 2 large bags of garbage.
In addition, many of our employees took up the offer to hand in their old cell phones in collection boxes for recycling.
In total, we were able to save 134 kg of CO2, which is equivalent to a short-haul flight! By recycling old cell phones, we were able to return important materials to the raw material cycle. We have also cleared our industrial area of waste, which makes our environment and our lunch break even more liveable.
Of course, we can't save the world on our own, but we can do our bit and motivate and inspire our fellow human beings to do the same.
