Airlock system according to ISO and GMP

ISO airlock device

Staff interlocks are often cramped and yet need to be very functional and ergonomic. We customize the furniture with cabinets, lockers and sit-over benches to suit the space available and the number of your employees. We use furniture made of melamine or solid core for personnel airlocks that are ISO-certified.

GMP airlock system

Furniture used in a GMP personnel airlock must meet even stricter cleanliness requirements. Surfaces and the finish of the interlock equipment must prevent dust deposits and enable easy cleaning and disinfection. Only certain materials are permitted for GMP requirements. We use a duplex material, HPL, solid core or duplex covered with stainless steel. Stainless steel is used for our dispensers.

Factors such as the cleanroom class, the available space and the number of personnel to be inducted per shift must be taken into account. Other factors that play a role in the planning of the airlock equipment are cleanability and, to a certain extent, the design. A personnel airlock can only be optimally planned and ultimately used efficiently and conveniently if all of the above points are taken into account. The difference between ISO and GMP airlock equipment is often not apparent at first glance. As more aggressive cleaning agents are often used in the GMP area, the airlock device must have a corresponding resistance. This resistance is not absolutely necessary in the ISO area, which is why cheaper materials are often used here.

The basic interlock furniture for a personnel interlock includes

  • Sitover bench: A sitover bench is a piece of furniture that is used to change shoes before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The sit-over bench often consists of a bench with an integrated shoe compartment. The bench provides comfortable seating for putting on and taking off shoes. The shoe compartment provides a safe place to store shoes. The sitover bench prevents dirt or particles from the shoes from entering the cleanroom. In addition, a sit-over bench signals a clear separation between the unclean and clean side of the personnel airlock to employees in the cleanroom.
  • Cleanroom adhesive mat: An adhesive mat in a cleanroom airlock is used to remove dirt and particles from shoe soles and transport equipment before entering the cleanroom. This reduces the risk of contamination, increases cleanroom integrity and provides a cost-effective method of particle control directly at the entrance.
  • Wardrobe: A wardrobe is used to hang up clothes before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The wardrobe is made of a cleanroom-compatible material and offers enough space for several items of clothing. They can also be used to store utensils.
  • Mirror: A mirror is used to check the fit of the cleanroom garments during induction.
