For your airlock Airlock planning
Would you like to equip your personnel airlock functionally and in accordance with current guidelines? We plan the complete installation of your personnel airlock, tailored precisely to the requirements of the cleanroom class and the number of employees.
In addition to furniture made of various materials, the airlock equipment also includes utensil dispensers in which cleanroom clothing can be stored within easy reach, as well as washbasins, floor coverings and adhesive mats.
Airlock system according to ISO and GMP
ISO airlock device
Staff interlocks are often cramped and yet need to be very functional and ergonomic. We customize the furniture with cabinets, lockers and sit-over benches to suit the space available and the number of your employees. We use furniture made of melamine or solid core for personnel airlocks that are ISO-certified.
GMP airlock system
Furniture used in a GMP personnel airlock must meet even stricter cleanliness requirements. Surfaces and the finish of the interlock equipment must prevent dust deposits and enable easy cleaning and disinfection. Only certain materials are permitted for GMP requirements. We use a duplex material, HPL, solid core or duplex covered with stainless steel. Stainless steel is used for our dispensers.

Airlock equipment and accessories
How does the airlock installation work with Schilling Engineering?
Why does an airlock need special equipment and accessories?
What is the difference between ISO and GMP airlocks?
The purpose of an airlock is to provide contamination-free access to sensitive cleanrooms. In order to fulfill this function, depending on the cleanroom class, an airlock requires special equipment and accessories that meet the high hygiene and safety requirements in the cleanroom.
The equipment of an airlock depends on the needs of our customers.
The furnishings of a personnel airlock are made of high-quality materials, such as coated or covered duplex panels or solid core panels. The surfaces are smooth and easy to clean.
The difference between ISO and GMP airlock equipment is often not apparent at first glance. As more aggressive cleaning agents are often used in the GMP area, the airlock device must have a corresponding resistance. This resistance is not absolutely necessary in the ISO area, which is why cheaper materials are often used here.
Which airlock equipment is fundamentally suitable for a personnel airlock?
A personnel airlock is an airlock that is used to transport people between different cleanliness classes. A personnel airlock prevents particles, germs or other contaminants from moving from one room to another. To fulfill this function, a personnel airlock requires special airlock equipment that meets the high hygiene and safety requirements of a cleanroom.
The airlock furniture is the furniture that is installed in the airlock to support people entering or leaving the cleanroom. The airlock furniture is made of high-quality materials, such as stainless steel or aluminum. The surfaces are smooth and easy to clean. The interlock furniture is self-supporting and can be linked together.
The basic interlock furniture for a personnel interlock includes
- Sitover bench: A sitover bench is a piece of furniture that is used to change shoes before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The sit-over bench often consists of a bench with an integrated shoe compartment. The bench provides comfortable seating for putting on and taking off shoes. The shoe compartment provides a safe place to store shoes. The sitover bench prevents dirt or particles from the shoes from entering the cleanroom. In addition, a sit-over bench signals a clear separation between the unclean and clean side of the personnel airlock to employees in the cleanroom.
- Cleanroom adhesive mat: An adhesive mat in a cleanroom airlock is used to remove dirt and particles from shoe soles and transport equipment before entering the cleanroom. This reduces the risk of contamination, increases cleanroom integrity and provides a cost-effective method of particle control directly at the entrance.
- Wardrobe: A wardrobe is used to hang up clothes before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The wardrobe is made of a cleanroom-compatible material and offers enough space for several items of clothing. They can also be used to store utensils.
- Mirror: A mirror is used to check the fit of the cleanroom garments during induction.
This type of airlock device is therefore fundamental to a personnel airlock, as they support people in their transition between different cleanliness classes. They ensure that the cleanroom maintains its high quality and performance and that the products or processes in the cleanroom are not affected by contamination.
What are the features of the airlock system from Schilling Engineering?
The interlock equipment from SCHILLING ENGINEERING is perfect for use in personnel interlocks as they meet the high requirements for hygiene, safety and quality.
They meet the requirements of ISO and GMP, among other things due to the easy cleanability of the smooth surfaces. The interlock furniture is also resistant to chemicals and has a high load-bearing capacity. An antimicrobial coating prevents the growth of bacteria or fungi and thus reduces the risk of contamination. The airlock furniture also meets the requirements for use in food areas and is therefore food-safe.
