[Translate to English:] Safe powder filling in a small space

The DSM Nutritional Products Group is one of the largest producers of vitamins, active pharmaceutical ingredients and substances for the cosmetics industry. Safe and reliable production processes are an indispensable prerequisite in this industry for maximum product quality and the best possible protection of all employees. At DSM's Swiss plant in Sisseln, the production facilities, especially for vitamins A and E, are among the largest of their kind in the world.

To further improve safety in powder processing, DSM has now commissioned an ISO Class 9 CleanCell4.0 clean room. To safely separate substrate filling from previous production, the enclosed 5 m² cleanroom booth is operated at a low negative pressure, which prevents the powder from spreading outside the booth. Two clean-air modules flush-mounted in the clean-room ceiling draw the outside air into the clean room through high-performance ULPA15 class HEPA filters. Directly at the filling station, DSM has also installed an extraction arm that filters particles with pinpoint accuracy. The powder to be filled is brought into the clean room in containers, usually in the form of drums, through a sliding film curtain. The height of the curtains was chosen in such a way that they can later be replaced by a double-wing door without further modification.

With a final ISO qualification, the small system could be put into operation just four weeks after the order was placed and adds an important component to the safety of production.
